The problem with Nanowrimo is it skews your mental perception of what a normal monthly word count should be.
Yes, a quarter of the year is gone and I haven't satisfied all of my writing goals (actually you guys should see my 'current' project page & laugh at how many Kingdom fics I've got going at once, it is utterly ridiculous XD) But I'm sitting at 46,957 words for 2013, I'm still chugging my way through the rebranded Sorcery, I've whittled down my tags to only owing a more manageable 4, and I have interesting projects to look forward to writing in the future.
Also, I had a sorely needed perspective shift on writing when I realized I've written 149,908 words since October. Um, Kol, shut up about not writing enough. XD
March is actually a good month to talk about how my creative process has changed. At a glance, it looks like I wasn't doing much creatively, only writing on 8 days. But in truth I spent:
I think April is going to have a higher word count by virtue of having the new editing/rewriting process in Sorcery down & my rarewomen fanfic being due. Challenge fics mean endless drafts furiously pushed out in a time crunch-- which is actually a formula for some of my better work. I think it is because I'm fundamentally an iceberg writer-- I have to build an elaborate foundation that no one else will see to sculpt the words that have the best impact on the reader. Maybe one day, with more practice, I'll be one of those writers that can turn in a first draft.
Then again, I'm the same way when I draw. I pretty much use hundreds of layers, redrawing lines until I have something that looks the right balance of confident lines & vaguely human looking. XD

- October: wrote 7,122 words across ~4 days. Not really my best effort XD
- November: wrote 71,605 words across 30 glorious days
- December: wrote 24,224 words across ~12 days.
- January: wrote 15,255 words across 7 days
- February: wrote 18,584 words across 10 days
- March: wrote 13,119 words across 8 days

- 25% of March: writing on average 1,640 words (8 days)
- 25% of March: reading both fiction (6) & non-fiction (+8K in notes) books (8 days).
- 25% of March: re-organizing the Sorcery manuscript & tackling a more focused editing/rewriting process (8).
- 25% of March: recovery & relaxing (7 days)
