MY PLANS LET ME SHOW YOU THEM

First of all:
ren_sama, a certain someone found your book and will be bringing it to work. I will take it and give it to you next time I see you <33.
Secondly: some of you may be aware I've been planning on remodeling the apartment for almost two years now. Well, we have a plan, and it looks like April-June will be spent Fixing The Apartment ZOMG!

I also scribbled some notes here.
The worst part of the apartment is two fold: I don't have enough storage space, and I don't have enough sitting space. People have two options: uncomfortable cheap Ikea chairs or, well, sitting on my futon. And Futon has 3 mattresses on it, so I can't exactly push it back into a sofa anymore. Since I actually *like* having people over (and it is exceedingly ridiculous
ren_sama hasn't been to my digs yet, I decided to see what a loveseat/mini sofa would look in the space.
And it really, really works. The great thing about it is I can set up the tv AND my monitor together, and work from the couch without too much difficulty. Dining Room Table will work for when I need to seriously spread out, but the sofa/table combo is probably going to save me a lot of headache, because I won't be hunched forward anymore!
My back is crying with relief already *___*.
I had thought about trying to work a desk in, but frankly I don't really use a desk the way it is intended-- it just turns into a hot mess of craftiness that works better sorted into cubbies, which the Expedit bookcase allows.
Anyway, here's the breakdown.
Table: Bjursta (199. Trying to convince a cousin to give me hers!)
Sofa: Klippan (249) [cover is phase 2]
Bookcase 1: Expedit (159)
Bookcase 2: Billy (59-- getting flat black, loads cheaper XD)
TV Stand: LACK (69)
Unless otherwise noted, all the furniture is going to be black/brown, because it matches everything I have already. The Billy bookcase might be phase 2 as well as the sofa; it depends on how money issues end up.
Remaining Budget: New blinds/curtains, frames for Dad's Art, magazine files/storage boxes for Expedit, Magnet/Dry Erase board + frame so I can attach a hook for keys, and contact paper for decorating insides of Expedit & magazine files/storage boxes. Some of this stuff we already have an are scrounging from family/friends, btw-- I think my frames are covered by Aunt 3 alone XD
It sounds like an awful lot, but when it gets broken down it isn't as much as it could have been. Part of the fund is coming from helping out Aunt 3 after her surgery next month, part of it is my birthday present from that Aunt, part of it comes from my eventual State Tax Refund, and part of it comes from my Mum. I'm going to be donating a ridiculous amount of clothes and books, too, so that alone is worth the remodel. Seriously, so much stuff just want to be organized *___*.
I've been prepping the apartment the last few days, hand-measuring everything with my 10' ruler on my hole punch as someone lost the tape measurer. XD. I still can't find my camera, but I'll see what I can do after the bed gets moved tomorrow. I'm horrified what is going to end up under it-- miles and miles of dust? Actual plot bunnies meticulously planning my doom?! Maybe even my camera?! *___*.

Date: 2009-03-12 03:39 am (UTC)Oh man, I thought I'd done cleaning until I shifted the bed. It just made me realize how much stuff I still have to go through and throw out. Why do I still have the entire first two seasons of Enterprise on tape?! I might have run a website, but that was YEARS AGO XD.
It feels weird. I shoved all my stuff in one corner, so if I squint and avoid that side, my apartment totally looks like someone else's and all I did was move the stupid bed. XD
