The problem with having so many days off: I forget to eat regularly during the day and don't really leave the apartment. At all. Walgreens runs for cards don't count. And since Housemates are doing other stuff, I'm basically alone. For three days in a row. Definitely going stircrazy over here *___*. But at least during this break I'm kinda getting things done.... even stuff I had no clue I'd pursue, like Neve and, well, today's coding disaster.
While working on Neve I remembered I'd made some stuff up for Uranus folk on the LSwiki. So I headed over and got distracted by a typo. But when I tried to login, it didn't work. Turns out when my host moved the domain to php5, it broke the wiki in weird ways. No problem, I thought! I'll just reinstall mediawiki and just re-upload the relevant wiki files!
HAHAHAHAHA, you tell yourself that Kol. Yeah, LSwiki is still cursed when it comes to websites. Death cannot stop the curse! Nothing can!
As for the skin crawling feeling of being trapped in the apartment, I'm pleased to say it will be over in ten hours when I leave to see
ren_sama. There needs to be more Savemarting and Side Adventures when we have monies. You know, in prep for Fanime and such. XD

Date: 2009-01-21 09:33 pm (UTC)And the good thing about all this time off is I've gotten to go back to my default sleeping pattern (3AM-Noon). Trouble is forcing body to get out of the apartment, even for a walk, when I know I don't have anything to do. Silly body, move! At least today I went for an adventure to Vallco, so it felt like I was a part of humanity again instead of some feverish cave creature. XD
As for the game site... the problem, I think, lies in mediawiki. It isn't exactly the most stable system out there for information collection, but alternatives, like tikiwiki, require more direct database manipulation in mysql than I'm comfortable with. If the game was still running, I'd just switch to it to Joomla! and be done with it. That content management system is *much* easier to fix when broken, and furthermore, the way it saves content, I wouldn't have to hand edit back in punctuation and other edits because it saves data in a more efficient, html friendly fashion.
But since this is for an archive for a game that died two years ago, yeah, not going to spend the time re-installing and setting up Joomla!. And watch the subdomain crash again five minutes after I say that. XD

Date: 2009-01-22 10:31 am (UTC)I haven't looked at Joomla yet - I'd love to have a wiki-like website where I could just add odd things. (in fact, I did one and let it languish - http://www.bookofchad.com. I have a completely different set of pet vaporware projects to work on now. XD )
What I've wanted for a while is a free form idea editor where you could tag randomly by hitting control-u or something. And then it'd take the tags and manage to weave that writing into a wiki-like webpage...
(yes, this is 2:30 -I took a nap and woke up about 11:45. Chad is unstuck in time. It'd be scary if Chad got a great machine and could really get unstuck...)

Date: 2009-01-23 07:48 am (UTC)I am intrigued by your idea for a free form idea editor. I have a vague sense there's something kind of like it for mac, but I can't remember what it is or if it actually works that way. I only remember because I was hunting down mind-mapping software for a friend a year ago, but my brain doesn't remember details this long XD.
