HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! I have a lot of hopes for everyone in 2009, hopefully they pan out!

First came the attempt to leave the house-- I was outside four feet and then the skies opened up to HAIL. See Kol scurry back inside and wait breathlessly for the sunshine the National Weather Service promised was on the way. But it came! And there was SUNSHINE and THE SUN and SUNRAYS so I bounded outside singing christmas carols the whole way to the bus stop.

Did I mention I sing worse than Akemi? XD

Hit downtown on time, only to find the monopoly board dashed by a fallen tree. How sad! The wind was ruthless, and I gave up attempting to keep the hood up against the chill because the wind came from every direction. There was no escaping it! *whistles* I might have pretended I was an airbender. Ah, inner!Aang, how I've missed you!

Got a ride from the light rail station and got to mum's apartment! Now, backstory on my mum-- she's 'dated' a guy for almost 20 years, and he has twin sons, who are more or less my step brothers. This was the first time I got to see the youngest's daughter, Kayla, who is the most precious two year old ever. But in this tiny apartment livingroom we had 9 people so it got a little crowded *__*.

We put on Dragonheart and mum got up to make Mac & Cheese on the stove. Only, Kayla divebombed her presents, so mum rushed through cooking and... well.. put the cheese into the water. And the counter. And somehow the diet pepsi 2-liter across the kitchen. And most of it on her socks XD. Our first Christmas hi-jinx!

Enter Super!Kol to the rescue! I kicked mom out of the kitchen, which was good because mum and Kayla cooed at the dragon on the screen and put See's candies wrappers on their heads like tiny little hats and were just absolutely adorkable <333.

Kitchen Macgyvering began, involving REAL cheddar cheese, dark beer, bacon, olive oil, and the oven, and a half hour later we had baked goodness. Oh man, you guys have no idea how many dinners I use to save during my summers at Casa De Keep-Her-Out-Of-The-Kitchen-At-All-Costs-Mum. And yes, it was v. v. delicious (thought I did battle with an eventually won a headache from consuming beer, however evaporated most had to have been from the oven XD)!

Then came news that youngest fake-step-brother's girlfriend is pregnant again! Babeh Kayla ignored the news and divebombed her Dora the Explorer chair-into-a-bed toy and babbled happily at the tv. She is a child after my own heart, far more interested in "DRAWRUN!" on the screen than babies. XD

Time for awkward phone call from my Dad, in which mum proceeds to shout all sorts of humiliating details I did not need to know about my first Christmas! Was saved by step mom getting on the phone and informing me she had saved a huge slice of the Christmas lasagna, which I have not had since Christmas 2000. You guys, seriously, I will not eat lasagna unless my step mom makes it. Or, you know, Costco. But still, I HAVE CHRISTMAS LASAGNA COMING NEXT MONTH! HURRAH FOR FREEZERS!! Did not get to talk with the Hew, because he's with his stupid dad in stupid Arizona ;_____;.

I MISS MY NEPHEW YOU GUYS ;______;

Anyway, after came musical interlude! David (my mum's eternal boyfriend)'s brother busted out his guitar and created a blues song on the spot about a dragon that wanted to be a frog, delighting absolutely everyone. You guys, if my phone had been working, I would have made all of you giggle with a voice post, so you'll just have to use your imaginations! It was the best (and still two year old appropriate) blues song ever XD

PRESENTS TIME FOR THE ADULTS! I got season 1 of Psych. BEST PRESENT EVER. YAY GUS AND SHAWN CRAZINESS!!

And then everyone sobbed in unison at the end of Dragonheart. STUPID MOVIE. ;_______________; I LOVE YOU DRACOOOOO!!!

The boys, their girlfriends, the kids and the trio of fat puppies (babeh!Rotweilers are actually kind of cute if you look at them with your eyes half-closed) ended up leaving, so I took the vacant spot on the couch next to David while Mum got up to ring for some food since the Safeway by her house was mysteriously closed this morning in spite of a sign proclaiming it would be open until noon. o.0;;

So she's on the phone when David jumps up and moves towards the hallway when BAM! David is falling back, rebounding off the tiny christmas tree atop the snake case, and somehow ends up wedged between the door and the wall. And he's completely out!

Cue everyone freaking the hell out! David's brother got to him first and tried to wake him up, shaking him, and David opened one eye and slurred out "get off my legs bro!" Cue nervous laughter!

What we think happened (because he was fine the rest of the night) was he took a second blood pressure pill before the mac and cheese casserole, because David usually only eats once a day and ALWAYS takes the pill with food and his pill bottle was a pill short. So when he stood up, he went DOWN. We made him promise to call his doctor tomorrow, though, so hopefully that's all it was. *____*. Mum's going to keep me informed if it was anything more serious.

So mum had dropped the phone in the middle of calling Pearl River, but it turned out they weren't open anyway so proceeded to go down the list of chinese food restaurants. And guess what? NONE OF THEM WERE OPEN. WHAT?! But we almost always get Chinese on Christmas! I don't know what was up with that, but we ended up settling for 7-11 hot dogs and tamales for dinner. Which, considering we had mac & cheese just a few hours before, was probably a good thing. XD

So then we started watching Star Wars Return of the Jedi, only everyone was MSTing and making sound effects and it was just GRAND. David's brother and I got into a mock Jedi fight (with our hoods on, mind you) with the gift wrapping tubes, which ended when we very nearly knocked the christmas tree over. Poor abused fake christmas tree! It bounced back into place with only the gay!frog prince ornament (okay, that's a story for another entry XD) falling off. But he's lip heavy, so he tends to do that even without our help XD.

In the middle we got a call from Aunt #3, who ran away to Maui only to find it STORMING. HAHAHA. Gloating over I Told You So aside, she managed to screw up her shoulder when she fell, running UP the same stairs she broke a toe on while when we were on vacation in May of 2007. Ah, how much I love that picture <333. She's okay, but she's going to the doctor tomorrow just to make sure. Apparently Christmas is LETS INJURE OURSELVES DAY in the Leonard side. Geesh!

And then the movie was over and I got a ride back to Santa Clara from David's brother, in which we sang off-key and got hopelessly lost on a side street and saw a christmas nativity scene done up out of a bad yaoi fanfic (seriously it was surrounded by PINK LIGHTS and I think Joseph was groping Man!Mary, but we went by too fast to be sure).

All and all? BEST CHRISTMAS SINCE XMAS '99!
Did you guys have any fun misadventures today? XD

Gramma came up, as I told you, & greeted me with a loud complaint about how I was faar too skinny & needed to put on some weight. That's how compliments work, on my dad's side.

She arrived half an hour early, after I'd frosted the cake intended for my friends, but just a few minutes before they could pick it up--exactly as I had feared. We had to distract her with cheesecake and apple pie, when she asked about the cake after dinner.

This morning she woke up with the right side of her face all swollen, & Dad had to take her to a local dental surgeon to have an abcessed tooth drained. Now everything is meds and ickyness, and she's going home a day early. sigh :\

Aunt Martha got us iTunes gift cards & booze (Chambord Liqueur). X3
