AN: This is very rough and will probably never be edited. But I was tired of seeing it in googledocs ^.^;;
Words came, words that bubbled forth from something borrowed, something beyond her. Words she could not control, could not shut off, could not ignore. Always, the words came.
And when they left her lips by their own volition, those words became her.
There was no understanding, only the words, and the vague sense her body was trapped by forces she couldn't comprehend. Forces she knew had ensnared many of her fellow students, dragging them under one by one. Lola had been the first, found outside the Haystacks, her hair stained crimson, but not by the blood torn from her unmarked skin.
Lola had been followed by others, wrapped in fate and earth. Easy to spot, always peculiar in eyes or hair, they slayed what the words whispered into her mouth on the edges of morning's light.
But Rae did not join their fight. She might envy in the monster hunters the agency she lacked, but Rae did not envy them their deaths. Deaths she knew to be inevitable against what was coming.
But that was a secret, one she hadn't stolen the right words to tell.
