At roughly 11:30 AM yesterday, my mother was rushed to the emergency with what was thought to be double pneumonia. She has Multiple Scerosis, so such a diagnosis is, naturally, "double" the trouble. Her chest was x-rayed and some other medical tests, and they came back conclusive-- she not only had double pneumonia, but her MS was on the move again.
I was unable to go to my mother yesterday, so I spent the better part of the day on the phone with her. Today with medication she felt a bit better, so we took her birthday presents to her. She now has a DVD/VHS player, 18 John Wayne movies on DVD, and Season 7 of Stargate SGI.
She looked terribly thin and fragile. It's heartbreakingly sad to see my mother in so much pain, and be utterly helpless to do anything to take that pain away.
So I'm sorry I haven't been on for the last 48 hours, but my mother needed me. So while I'm sorry I missed that GK chat, I'm not really sorry I spent it with my mother in small fashion.
