well, that was a different sadface coping mechanism

I have been resisting efforts to speed up sketches, even though [livejournal.com profile] ren_sama told me I should try doing quickie sketches. Well, I gave in tonight and spent about an hour sketching off a really cool pose website and off the television. No, you cannot see the last ones, since they are all really lame stargate ones that suck, but I uploaded the others.

All ranged from 30 to 90 seconds. Which for me is ridiculously fast because I fail at drawing without layers and freak out. This was my first real attempt at 'figure drawing,' so I'm okay with how they turned out. I don't have real sketching tools, apparently, so I just used crayola markers, .45mm micron, and my lame ebony pencil. My favorite sketch was the hand at the top of page 2. :D

I need an icon that works for fanarting *___*.

I do bleve Ren has the right of it. Those are GOOD! <333

(I must give that a go myself. XD I am v. slow artist. Also, I have been v. daring of late and attempting arts drawn solely with the tablet -- usually I scan in a pencil sketch and work from that. Behold the fruits of my labours (http://tatterdemalion.lotus-eater.org/kingdom/profiles/profile-loni.jpg)! ^_^)

Aww, thank you! Doing an hour of sketches wore me out, so I think I'm going to try sketching before bed. Hopefully it can knock the insomnia off track AND sketching will hopefully improve. SCORE.

And I'll have you know, I squeed so loud seeing that picture, I woke up the dogs in the next room. XD Oh that was just what I needed to cheer myself up before crashing, thank you so much <333. And I have to say, I love the composition of the picture, too-- the background is awesome <33. And the style is consistent with your initially pencil sketched work, too, which just amazes me.

If I wasn't half dead, I'd totally get up again and go on a sketchfest. That totally gave me an inspiration boost, thank you <333.

Eeee yay, I'm so glad you like it! <333 You are quite welcome. I was really hoping it'd cheer you up a bit (pink is such a happy colour ^_^), but the inspiration is a total bonus. ^_^ Your observation re: how consistent it was with the pencil sketch-based arts made me go back and look at it -- and I realized how much of a crutch those pencil sketches have been. If I can get the same result without the sketch, that saves TWO whole steps, and means more arts faster! ^_____^

*cracks knuckles, puts the kettle on, and busts out the tablet for more artings*

Y'know, it always sounds insane when people say this helps but it's true. My old drawing master (not teacher, you can't call an ancient Italian dude a teacher) used to have us do 20 quick sketches for every class. He would tell us to watch TV and sketch action poses. I found doing that REALLY got me analyzing the inherent line and flow of people. TV moves so fast.
