Happy Unbirthday, Addie and Sage!
She's Going Out
fandom: Kingdom
prompt: alternate Long December AU thinger. Mara-centric. Uh bizarrely, the other day I was wondering, is it possible to reverse the November situation so that Mara is the one who runs off, even for just for a week or so? What would possibly get her to do that? Where would she go, what would she be hunting (if she leaves to go hunting at all)? How would you imagine the reactions of the others to go?
ONE WORD: BITSOME. (Bitter Awesome, if you missed the last music meme). There are two endings for this, and I've half a mind to write them both in a chose your own adventure type reading. This, like Addie's unbirthday drabble, is a first draft, and is going to be tinkered with. I find it fitting that I finally get back on the creativity wagon by potentially killing off my favorite character. OH MARA.
This fic was spawned by an image I had in my head on my walk-- Mara, on the brink of breaking down, her face taunt with rage and despair, just laying her cards on the table, unable to resist a vengeance that might kill her.
Apparently my brain was in the mood for writing potential vengeance narratives tonight? XD
The Tragedy of Ozrifar and Clastram
fandom: MoT
prompt: Maybe something based in the past, what kind of relationship did Star have to Pentacles? Or Death or Fool? Or anyone? I'm just dorky and want to see Mystics stuff. Obviously you have a ridiculous amount of leeway where nonexistent characters are concerned, but STILL.
You have no idea how much I love this piece.
A part of me was very apprehensive about bringing Dom in, but once I drew him I couldn't get the stupid man out of my head, and this piece really couldn't work without him. In my head the court was this bizarre mix of Camelot and Ninjas and Dune, plots within plots, conspiracies within conspiracies, and only a real fool would trust in love conquering all. I have a great sympathy for Ozrifar-- she is not a very nice woman, true, but in such an environment, she is doing what she must to survive and gain power. She is toyed by Pentacles not with love, but in her bid for power, and I think that speaks volumes for the kind of person she was back then, and how profoundly different Jaime is. Jaime, who unconsciously gave up her dreams of being an Olympic Gymnast so that she could protect and serve. I thought it was fitting to see her both in her POV and in Clastram/Dom's, and how aspects of that snarkiness still exist in Jaime (as seen here).
Anyway, this was a complete rewrite, ground up, and a complete first draft. Let me know if you want anything changed, Addie!
