EVEN MORE REASON you should call him back and tell him you're just too damn worn out to make it sorry so glad you called though thanks for thinking of me. If you phrase it like that, without having to search the files to find the NO word that keeps scurrying off when it sees the phone approach your mouth, it might be easier.

FIERCE HUGS, KOL. YOU CAN DO IT. *lends you her Bitch!Hat and cheers you on from afar* <333

Boys make a lot of us a mess, dear. <3 You're only human. Pixie is right, though (as usual). You have to take care of yourself and if you can't, you can't. You need to enjoy your day off. I don't know when this thing is but, if it's very soon, poop on him for giving you no notice!

Seriously, you can say no without lying or saying no. Just be sure to thank him for thinking of you and say "maybe a raincheck".

It's very telling and, sometimes, you have to listen to that impulse. I know you're also trying to balance it and be nice and be yourself; you don't want to hurt his feelings and you don't want your issues to create issues for others... Believe me. I so know.

But there is absolutely no shame in not being able to face something This Instant. Especially not with the month you've just had. If you can avoid putting yourself into a worse tailspin before you're ready, do it.

Sometimes it's the only way.
