Alright, yesterday:

Work was alright, if tedious. Interview went well, lots of things discussed, including the affinity I have with visual standards within the store.

Then, I spoke with my oldest aunt, who recently had surgery. It wasn't terribly dire a surgery, but she is in her 60's, so she always has to be careful. And she was doing fine until she pulled the tube wrong and suddenly, half her face had swollen up and HER BLOODY DOCTOR REFUSED TO SEE HER. FOR TWO DAYS. She finally had her husband drive her the full half hour (she's moved to a tiny town in Oregon) to the doctor's office, and they had to confront the distastful doctor, who blamed it all on his receptionist. So, this has been going on and no one in the family had any idea of it, because she didn't want to worry. I only spoke with her by chance when I called to let her know I'd be up sometime in the next month to finally visit. She's heavily medicated and her face is still swollen, but she seems like she'll pull out of it with minimal damage-- except now she'll have to drive over an hour to a doctor's office in Eugine, because there's no way anyone is letting her stay with that idiot of a physician who, despite KNOWING MY GRANDFATHER WAS A VERY GOOD PHYSICIAN and my Aunt, who they had previous discussed had worked for my grandfather, and had a history with this doctor of minimalizing any symptom she was having, immidiately thought she was exaggerating when she said HALF HER FACE WAS EXTREMELY SWOLLEN.

I hate doctors sometimes. ARG.

The day only got worse. I also found out that one of my cousins, the one who was in an accident involving a fatality last year and only recently began driving again, totaled her car and is suffering from a spinal injury, a concusion, and a side of badly bruised ribs. Not to mention SHE ALMOST KILLED HERSELF, YOU KNOW, DRIVING AT 2AM DEAD TIRED FROM HER BLOODY RETAIL JOB. She's killing herself, barely making minimum wage, dealing with even more retail insanity than I am, and now she can't even work AND her "friends," who walked out of the accident without a scratch, won't even talk to her. AND have taken her hours at work.

The previous accident was caused when her breaks failed-- she had been driving too fast, but it was 50% a car issue. This one was caused by a simple error that a lot of people get wrong-- her car started fishtailing on "ice," (I think it was just slick roads from the rain, as it wasn't cold enough that night for ice to form) and she not only oversteered to counteract it, but she also slammed on the breaks. By staying calm and gently steering in the opposite direction she was fishtailing and easing off the accelerator, she could have corrected the movement. But that's only for a car with rear wheel drive-- front wheel drive, you have to add gas to get out of the fishtail.

The sad thing is, I know this and am not driving, and she had no clue and was out on a rainy night at 2AM. *sigh* Then again, I have been in 2 accidents involving fishtailing vehicles, and my stepmother beat the knowledge of what to do in that situation into my sister's head and mine.

Other things happened yesterday, but I don't have the energy to rehash them. Suffice to say am not in happy place right now.

Gah! We totally have to be on at the same time, somehow. Oh, and congrats on the new job, btw! How was your first day?
